What wedding venues need to do NOW to be ready for the Christmas engagement season

With less than 100 days to go until Christmas, and with the madness of peak wedding season coming to an end, there has never been a better time to start getting your venue and your events team ready for the biggest engagement season of the year. Christmas and New Year are traditionally the most popular times of year to pop the question, meaning January is one of the busiest times of the year for venues when it comes to enquiries and show rounds. OK, so you might still be catching your breath after a jam-packed summer of weddings, but it’s crucial to act now if you want to be ready for Christmas engagement season. No idea where to start? The Venue Experts can help with that…

Fine tune your website

First things first, you need to make sure your website is working as hard as it possibly can. Start with the basics – how does it look and is everything working as it should be? Check through your site to make sure there are no glitches like missing images or broken links – these give off a terrible first impression. Look at how quickly each page loads and whether it feels intuitive to navigate. After all, you want to make the customer experience as enjoyable and easy as possible.

Double check all the information any prospective couple might need is easy to find and up to date, and give your FAQ page a once over – it’s often one of the first places brides- and grooms-to-be will head to get all the info they need, quickly. Finally, are you using the very best images you can to showcase your venue to its full potential? Do you have any new photos from recent weddings or styled shoots that have even more of the wow-factor?

Whatever you do, be sure to have multiple team members look over the website to help make sure everything is working perfectly and looking great.

Check your socials

Social media – especially platforms like Instagram – is a key part of the wedding planning process, so it’s crucial to put the time and effort into making your venue’s social media accounts stand out. At The Venue Experts we’ve spoken previously about how helpful Instagram, Facebook and TikTok can be when it comes to marketing your venue. Social media is a widely accessible and free (apart from those paid-for ads) way to connect with an already interested audience. Each platform has its own strengths, but the common threads that run through social media for venues in general are that they offer the chance to interact with future, current and past customers, visually show off your venue, help to create a rapport through a recognisable tone of voice, make it easy to network with other wedding businesses and – ultimately – boost bookings.

The golden rule across all social medias channels is to be consistent with your posting. One or two posts a month just won’t cut it – you won’t reach your intended audience and you won’t look professional. When it comes to your socials, winging it just doesn’t work. You need to create a well-thought out social media strategy for the whole year, to really optimise the benefits it can bring. The Venue Experts are experts at creating a social media year-plan that gets results – get in touch with us by clicking here if you’d like to find out more.

Think about third-party sites

Many potential customers will find you via third-party sites like Bridebook and Hitched, so make checking your listings a priority. Is all the information up to date? Do you have any new details to add? Are all your website and social media details included? Have a read through your listing to see if the venue description could do with re-writing; are you really selling it to its full potential?

Just like you did with your website, make sure you are using the most incredible imagery at your disposal. Remember that on third-party listing sites, brides- and grooms-to-be will most likely be clicking through a number of venues so really try and find a photo that will stop them in their tracks.

Look at your sales process

It’s too late to think about whether your sales process is working once you’re in the midst of engagement season. You need to take time now to sit down and comprehensively assess how well you and your team can keep on top of the impending influx of enquiries. Event teams are often stretched, and it can be hard enough to find the time to manage the diary and plan the weddings already booked in, never mind deal with follow-up emails and show rounds.

That’s where The Venue Experts come in. We offer an industry-leading outsourced wedding venue sales service, where we handle everything from promptly replying to enquiry emails to arranging show rounds and getting that firm booking. Providing seven days a week support, we can take care of your inbox, giving you the space and time to focus on hosting incredible weddings. Plan a wedding showcase

Last but not least, the wedding showcase. January is the perfect month for a wedding showcase, giving you the chance to team up with other amazing local suppliers to showcase everything you have to offer to couples planning their perfect day. A stylish, immersive wedding showcase is such a great boost to help couples take the next step and book their wedding with you. Start planning now, so you have plenty of time to market the event and make it the best it can possibly be. Then, when January comes, most of the hard work will be done already.

If this feels like yet another thing you’d love to do but just don’t have the time, give The Venue Experts a call. Our Marketing team have helped organise and host some of the most beautiful and inspirational showcases; let them work their magic on your venue so you are ready for engagement season.
